The oil and the nuts can be combined.
Have you ever had a jar of nut butter without emulsifiers, sit on the shelf for some time? If so, you know that the oil separates from the the rest of the nut and it can be a challenge to get it back together. Yesterday as I was trying to mix a jar of nut butter that had separated, I dug it out of the jar and dumped it into a large bowl and began to cut away at the solid part with a table knife to get the oil to mix with the solid.
It takes a great deal of effort to continue cutting into the stiff solid part, and so I would leave it periodically to let my hand and arm rest. Each time as I left it alone, and came back to it, I noticed it had come further along in combining while just sitting there. After about the third time returning to it, I was able to finish combining it until it was a smooth mixture.
All the while I kept thinking of a Zion-like society in which all are of one heart and one mind. I thought of how we need to reach out to others with love rather than judgment and how it takes time, patience and persistence, but with that effort a homogenous whole can be achieved.
